How Laser Hair Removal Works
A laser sends a precise beam of light into the skin. The pigment in the hair absorbs that energy and turns it into heat, which disables the follicle so it stops producing new hair, while the skin around it stays protected by cooling.
Each follicle can only be treated while the hair is in its active growth phase, and at any moment only part of your hair is in that phase. That is why laser hair removal works as a series of sessions, usually 6 to 8, spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart. With every visit you will notice less hair, finer regrowth and smoother skin.

New clients pay $25 for their first underarm session (regular price $98). After that, Laser Club members ($59/month) pay from $19 per session for extra-small areas like the upper lip up to $99 for extra-large areas like full legs or full back. Laser hair removal is FDA-cleared for permanent hair reduction. After a full series, most clients see a dramatic, long-lasting reduction in hair, and any hair that grows back is usually finer and lighter. Occasional touch-up sessions keep the results at their best.
Most clients need 6 to 8 sessions, spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart for the body and closer together for the face. Hair grows in cycles and the laser only reaches follicles in the active growth phase, which is why a series is needed. Your plan depends on the area, your hair and your skin.
Most clients describe it as a quick snap, like a rubber band. The Candela GentleMax Pro sprays a burst of cryogen on the skin right before every pulse, which keeps the treatment comfortable, and sessions get easier as the hair thins out.
Yes. The GentleMax Pro has two wavelengths: 755 nm Alexandrite for lighter skin and 1064 nm Nd:YAG, which bypasses the pigment in the skin and is the safer choice for darker skin tones. Your technician chooses the settings for your skin type at every visit.
Shave the area 24 hours before, come with clean skin and no lotion, deodorant or makeup on the area, and avoid sun exposure and self-tanner for two weeks before. Do not wax, pluck or thread between sessions, because the laser needs the hair root in place.
Avoid hot showers, saunas, workouts and direct sun for 24 to 48 hours, use SPF on treated areas, and keep the skin moisturized. Some redness or small bumps are normal and usually fade within a few hours. Treated hair sheds on its own over the next one to three weeks.
It is best to wait. Recent sun exposure or a tan increases the risk of irritation, so we may adjust the settings or reschedule. Let your technician know if you have been in the sun in the past two weeks.
IPL uses broad-spectrum light that scatters across many wavelengths, while a true laser like the Candela GentleMax Pro uses one precise wavelength that targets the hair follicle. That means more consistent results, fewer sessions and safer treatment on a wider range of skin tones.

Laser is the long-term answer for less hair overall, while sugaring removes hair right away and is ideal for very light, blonde or gray hair that laser cannot target. Many clients combine both: laser for most areas and sugaring in between or for fine hair.
